Apple released, Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard, the refined version of Leopard on Friday.  It is fast and very responsive and has some nice upgrades to the expose features, more on that in a latter post.

This is a warning about Snow Leopard and the Fujitsu Scansnap. The Fujitsu Scansnap Quick Menu does not work in Snow Leopard.  So if you use it to alter the settings for each scan be prepared to do without something until Fujitsu fixes it.

Fujitsu says it'll be done in 2009 and they have released a patch for now.  More on this issue from Fujitsu.

I hate to see two of my favorite things not play well together.

I have been using Acrobat 9 pro in Snow Leopard and open up a PDF with Acrobat 8 Pro and so so far no troubles. Losing Acrobat would be hurtful, I'll keep you posted.

I haven’t tried Snow Leopard myself yet and haven’t heard back from Fujitsu regarding their support for it, but have you had any experiences one way or the other with it?

I have been using the ScanSnap everyday with Snow Leopard and have not had any problems. I highly recommend both - Fujitsu has released the update:

I just purchased a ScanSnap printer for my Mac running Snow Leopard and while the machine seems to scan just fine, the Adobe Acrobat Pro 8.X OEM software that came with it opens up the scanned document and then immediately crashes.

I ended up removing 8.x and returning to using Adobe Acrobat 7.x, but wonder if anyone else out there had a similar experience (and perhaps can recommend a fix).

I tried re-installing 8.x -- but to no avail.

I called Adobe and got NO WHERE with some Indian-speaking person who I could hardly understand. All I heard him say (clearly) was that I would have to pay money to get support from Adobe. That figures!!!!!

Please help me if you can.

Cheers!

Kurt Smith
